Our Commitment to Sustainability
We’re passionate about travel – and preserving the privilege of exploration for future generations is what compels us to become a more sustainable travel business.
We constantly review our products and operations to find ways of reducing our impact; and do what we can to contribute to industry-wide change. We encourage low carbon travel by offering team members additional annual leave if they swap flights for trains on work or personal trips; and invest heavily in carbon removal solutions and biodiversity restoration through our partners Klimate and Rewilding Britain.
As proud signatories of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, we are working towards ambitious carbon reduction targets and report regularly and transparently on our progress.

Protecting our Futures
Our 2025 Planet & People Report outlines our progress and successes in the last year, along with addressing challenges we face as a purpose-led business. It includes case studies and stories from all of our brands – Inghams, Explore Worldwide, Inntravel and Santa's Lapland. Co-authored by Group CEO Joe Ponte, Director of Sustainability Prue Stone and Director of HR Nicky Lyle, it includes some exciting milestones from our 2023/24 financial year.
During this time, Hotelplan UK:
- Achieved B Corp certification for Explore Worldwide
- Reduced the carbon footprint of our trips on a per person, per night basis for a second year running, resulting in a 10% reduction since baseline
- Invested £1.2 million in carbon removal and biodiversity restoration
- Removed more than 20,000 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere via active carbon removal projects, with further carbon contracted for future removal
- Donated £98,601 to charitable projects
- Embedded carbon and biodiversity knowledge across the team through its new learning experience platform
We don’t have all the answers and we’re constantly learning, listening and collaborating with others from across the industry.
